Earlier this year twenty jurisdictions joined the Safety + Justice Challenge, bringing the total to 40 cities, counties, and states working to design and test innovative justice reforms as part of the Challenge Network sponsored by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The initiative is pretty straight-forward: to change the way America thinks about and uses jails.
Last year, the Joint Technology Committee (created by COSCA, NACM, and NCSC) also took on this topic with their Resource Bulletin and Webinar about improving pretrial release decisions by using technology to help inform those decisions. If you missed these important resources, you can check them out here.
equivant applauds each of the jurisdictions selected for the Challenge Network and we're excited to follow their successes through 2017!
